Norwich came from behind to make their numerical superiority count at Loftus Road as they took advantage of Joey Barton’s dismissal to triumph 2-1.

The meeting of two of the promoted club’s from last season looked to going in QPR’s favour as Joey Barton made the most of some neat approach work to give the home side an early lead.

But Norwich have a good record against QPR having won three of the last four encounters and their task was made easier in the 35th minute when Barton in an off the ball incident appeared to use his head in a clash with the Canaries Bradley Johnson.

QPR boss Neil Warnock looked furious, whether with the decision or Barton’s actions it was hard to tell.

The host’s looked like they might still hold their lead at the break until Anthony Pilkington hit a leveller from 30 yards in the 42nd minute.

The second half looked to heading for a draw as QPR despite their reduced numbers looked comfortable. Norwich keeper John Ruddy even brilliantly saved Adel Taarabt's free-kick.

But with eight minutes remaining the Canaries hit the winner as substitute Steve Morison took advantage of some slack defending to sweep home from close range.

QPR are now winless in their last eight league matches with just one home win all season and sit just above the drop zone.
