Chivas USA have had their fair share of setbacks this season with injuries coming thick and fast. After losing first choice goalkeeper Brad Guzan to Aston Villa mid-season, Zach Thornton was brought across to fill the void only to be injured at Toronto FC soon into his campaign. Dan Kennedy then stepped into the number 1 slot and made it his own with convincing appearances assisting Chivas to reach the play-offs.
So in the last game of the season, which was pretty much only for pride, what happens? Kennedy is sent off for a dubious penalty call.
With most teams the unsettled nature of the man between the sticks might prove a little daunting, not so for Chivas USA players.
"It doesn't change at all," Chivas USA striker Alecko Eskandarian said. "Zach has been working really hard since he got injured and this last week in training I spent a lot of time shooting and working with the goalies and he seemed actually really good and I think he showed (Saturday) with a couple of big saves he made."
The one person that may have a headache for the second game however is head coach Preki as he will have to make a choice as to who starts in goal.
Chivas USA face Real Salt Lake for the first leg of the play-off series this weekend.
