Pre-season blow for Tottenham with Bentley injury

Tottenham have received some bad news on the eve of their pre-season tour to the USA with winger David Bentley set to miss the trip.

The 25-year old has sustained ankle ligament damage stemming from the friendly win over Bournemouth on the weekend.

Scans have revealed the extent of the damage and Bentley will require treatment and will have to remain in England to get over the problem.

"MRI scans on Monday have confirmed that David Bentley has damaged right ankle ligaments," read statement on the club's official website.

"The midfielder was forced off with the injury in the first half of our pre-season friendly against Bournemouth on Saturday and as a result will now miss our tour of the United States to receive further treatment at Spurs Lodge."
