Italy coach Cesare Prandelli has warned Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli he must prove himself on the pitch.

Prandelli dropped Balotelli for their friendly defeat to the USA.

"We need to get some players back in shape, especially as the last few games suggested we have some problems without important players," Coach Prandelli told Rai Sport.

"I know Balotelli wants to be an integral part of this squad, but now he needs to go from words to action.

"The important thing is to grow together. Mario does not have to resolve his problems by himself, but instead must ask for help."
