Prandelli hails Fiorentina character after Napoli win

Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli was delighted with their 3-1 win over Napoli.

Alberto Gilardino struck twice as the Viola fought back from last week's Champions League heartbreak to win a crucial three points.

Prandelli said: "What proved decisive today was putting in character and also the desire to take the initiative here.

“I am truly happy, as we were missing half the squad, but you couldn’t tell by the sheer grit of these lads.”

One of Prandelli’s substitutions was inspired, as 16-year-old Kouma Babacar provided the assist for Stevan Jovetic’s goal.

“Babacar did very well and has been training with us since the summer, but he is still young and must be allowed to grow up.

“We were rewarded for taking risks. In football you need to seek out the moments that give you a psychological push, as when we play without the right focus, we really struggle.”
