Prandelli delighted to welcome Gilardino to Fiorentina

Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli is delighted to be reunited with his old Parma striker Alberto Gilardino.

Gila completed his £12 million move from AC Milan last week and Prandelli declared: "I know Alberto well and his statistics show what he can do if we get him back to his best after a testing season at Milan.

"He suffered under the pressure of the unique place that is Milan and I am sure that he will return to the Gilardino of 2006 in Florence."

Gilardino played under Prandelli at Verona and Parma and will also link up with former strike partner Adrian Mutu.

"I am very happy," he roared. "It is a marriage made in heaven. Fiorentina is my destiny.

"This is an important stage and I want to make it clear that I love this place. I spent three big years with Milan winning prestigious trophies and I gave a lot - that experience shaped me."
