Poyet intent on strengthening Brighton during summer break

Brighton boss Gus Poyet has already begun preparations for the next Championship season. The Seagulls finished a creditable 10th in their first season back in the league's second tier.

"We need to improve but it's not going to be easy because there's a race to get the best players," said Poyet. "We'll start working very hard now."

Brighton finished the campaign with a goalless draw at Barnsley and Poyet saluted the travelling support for turning up in numbers yet again.

"The fans have been fantastic," he added. "Even (Barnsley boss) Keith Hill was surprised to see how many fans came up from Brighton for a game which didn't mean anything."
