Sunderland manager Gus Poyet has urged Lee Cattermole to rein in his temper in the future.
Poyet is aware how important the hard-nosed midfielder is to the Black Cats line-up but wants to keep him on the pitch rather than always serving suspensions as he returns from a sanction for the trip to Aston Villa on Saturday.
"I need to make sure Lee knows he is important to the team, and Lee needs to make sure he keeps his cool a little bit better," Poyet said of the 25-year old who has received eight red cards in his career.
"He's an important player. He's a leader, he's strong and he doesn't accept defeat - and sometimes you need those kinds of characters."
