Gus Poyet can't understand why his Sunderland team is making so many errors.
The Black Cats were beaten 1-0 at home by Aston Villa on New Year's Day when a mistake by Lee Cattermole allowed Gabriel Agbonlahor to score in the 15th minute.
After the match, Poyet felt his Sunderland side needed to shape up as they remain rooted to the bottom of the table.
"We started well," Poyet told Sky Sports.
"We were controlling possession and creating chances. But we made a mistake that, unfortunately, changed completely the game.
"They shouldn't happen because they are so simple. The pitch is in good condition and the ball rolls.
"But everything happens for a reason and I don't know if the reason is that it is going to be more difficult than I thought to get out of this situation.
"Always something happens and I'm getting a little fed up."
