Sunderland boss Gus Poyet concedes his team should be playing better.
Poyet upset supporters this week when he claimed they were still pining for the days of Niall Quinn and Kevin Phillips.
"That was a proper comment, it happens everywhere," he said. "Because Uruguay won the World Cup in 1930 and 1950 we needed to win the World Cup also. I'm thinking 'hello - this is where we are'.
"But I am frustrated. I don't like it, I hate it. I hate losing. We should be doing better.
"We haven't won too many this year, so I'm not really enjoying it - the way we are playing or the lack of results. But it is up to us now. When we are all together - fans and team - it is easier.
"I think the fans are within their rights to boo the team if we play terribly, like we have in the last couple of games at home.
"I just ask them that, during the game, if possible, please stay with us even if we are rubbish - that makes it easier."
