Simon Poulsen has left Sampdoria to sign with AZ Alkmaar.
Poulsen has returned to AZ Alkmaar after terminating his contract with Sampdoria.
"I'm an emotional person. In Alkmaar I always felt appreciation of the club and its fans. Therefore I could perform," Poulsen told the club's official website.
"As the crowd chanted my name, I flew over the field. After I left Alkmaar I felt what their appreciation meant to me.
"I want to find the joy in my football again."
