Liverpool midfielder Christian Poulsen is determined to grab his chance of an extended first team run.
With Steven Gerrard out for a month and back-up midfielder Jay Spearing sidelined for six weeks with a broken bone in his leg, Poulsen has the chance to earn an extended run in the team.
And he is keen to make the most of it, after acknowledging his difficulties in adapting to the Premier League.
"It was good for me to play again. It has been a hard start so it was nice to be in the starting XI in an important victory," he said.
"We have struggled and I have struggled to get into the team so it was nice to play.
"With Steven coming back from the national team with an injury it is important for the other players to come in.
"He is a big miss. When the captain is not here, we are missing the key player from our team.
"We hope he will be back quickly but the rest of the time he is away, it is up to us to pick up the points and be in a good position so when he comes back we will be even better.
"I got my chance and I was happy but three points was most important."
