Paris Saint-Germain owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi is hoping to tie up a deal for Yohan Cabaye in order to bring some French influence back to the club.
The 28-year old Newcastle United midfielder is set to undergo a medical in Paris ahead of a £20million-plus move back to his homeland and Al-Khelaifi is excited about the impending transfer.
"We decided to target Cabaye for three reasons," he told L'Equipe.
"One, he is a very good player, very interesting to us.
"Two, I have never met him but I was told he is a nice guy.
"Three, he is French and it is very important for us to recruit French players at PSG in order to win the French championship."
