Brisbane Roar captain Matt McKay has plenty of improvement to come but is still the right kind of player to make it at international level.
They are the sentiments of Roar coach Ange Postecoglou who is of firm belief that the midfielder would look comfortable in the green and gold of the Australian national team.
McKay has had a stellar first three months of the 2010/11 A-League season, leading the Roar to top spot on the table whilst gaining a couple of Socceroos call-ups in the process and Postecoglou believes there is more to come.
“I said at the start of the season that Matty has the ability to be one of the influential players in the A-League - I think he is that now," he said.
"His next step is getting a first team spot in the Socceroos.
"I don't say that lightly, I know what is required to play at that level.
"He has taken his game to another level but I think there is another level in him.
"His best is in front of him."
