Possible Chainrai return not welcomed by Portsmouth supporters

Portsmouth supporters are threatening a boycott of Fratton Park if former owner Balram Chainrai returns to take charge of the debt ridden club as suggested by administrator Trevor Birch.

Portsmouth supporters are threatening a boycott of Fratton Park if former owner Balram Chainrai returns to take charge of the debt ridden club as suggested by administrator Trevor Birch.

Many fans hold the Hong Kong-based businessman responsible for the club's financial woes and some have gone as far as to say they would prefer Pompey to go bust rather than see Chanrai take over the reins once again.

Bob Beech, chairman of fans' group SOS Pompey, told the Daily Mirror: "I'd rather have the Luftwaffe back in Portsmouth than Balram Chainrai.

"I'm getting loads of calls, emails and text messages from fans saying they will boycott if he takes over and we will stage a mass season-ticket bonfire. We cannot have this man back under any circumstances.

"And if it is a choice of Chainrai or liquidation, most supporters would rather form a new club and wipe the slate clean."
