Europa League qualifying began well for Australians Tim Cahill and Mark Schwarzer overnight.
Cahill and the Toffees out their opening day disaster against Arsenal behind them by defeating Czech outfit SK Sigma Olomouc 4-0 at Goodison Park.
Cahill played a full 90 minutes of the match in which both Louis Saha and teenage midfielder Jack Rodwell netted braces.
At Craven Cottage, Fulham accounted for Russian club FC Amkar Prem 3-1, allowing them to take a two-goal advantage into the second leg.
Andy Johnson (4th), Clint Dempsey (51st) and Bobby Zamora (75th) did the damage for the Cottagers but Vitaly Grishin landed a consolation goal for the visitors when he fired past Schwarzer in the 77th minute from a tight angle after the defence failed to clear.
