Portugal's Meireles hoping to follow Chelsea's blueprint to Euro glory

Raul Meireles is hoping he and his Portugal teammates can produce a similar result to that of his club Chelsea at Euro2012.

The Blues took out the Champions League title against the odds last season and now the midfielder wants the Portuguese team to push towards the European Championships after securing their spot in the quarter-finals where they will take on the Czech Republic in Warsaw on Thursday.

"I won the Champions League with Chelsea and no one was backing us," he told reporters.

"We have to be realistic and think match by match. But it is true that Chelsea's example makes me dream.

"This is a dream that every Portuguese has, but it will be very hard to realise. If we do it, it would be a tremendous feat."
