Portugal coach Paulo Bento has apologised for the behaviour of Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo.

After their opening Euros defeat, Portugal captain Ronaldo ripped off his armband and stormed down the players' tunnel, ignoring his teammates and fans in the process.

"Players react differently to situations that occur in games. If anyone was offended, I apologize, because I'm responsible," said Bento yesterday.

"Not everyone reacts the same way."
