Portsmouth striker David Nugent has travelled to Germany to see a specialist regarding his hernia injury.
Nugent sustained the problem in the first half of Saturday's 2-1 fourth round FA Cup victory over Plymouth at Fratton Park.
The 22-year-old will now see the same specialist who treated Newcastle forward Michael Owen for a similar problem.
Nugent has flown to Germany to see Ulrike Muschaweck and a decision will then be made as to whether the forward requires surgery.
"He's flying off to Munich, we'll see what the specialist says and take course of action from there," Portsmouth physio Gary Sadler told the club's official website.
