David Nugent plans to use his Portsmouth home debut against Manchester United tonight to catch the eye of England boss Steve McClaren.
"In training I have noticed the step-up from the Championship and it's a lot sharper but I'm enjoying it. I've got to catch the eye now, I've been in the squad before and I want to be in there again. If I score a few goals I'm sure I will get another chance.
"I did okay at Derby, there were a few new players in there so it's going to take time to gel. That will only come with games but I thought we did well considering it was our first game together. We've got to aim for Europe.
"Portsmouth had a good finish last year and now the squad is a lot stronger with the players we've brought in. Pre-season went really well, everyone's settled in quickly and I'm really enjoying it."
