Portsmouth striker David Nugent has pleaded with Harry Redknapp to give him the chance to prove he is worthy of an FA Cup final spot by unleashing him at West Ham on Tuesday.
Nugent, 22, was called from the substitutes' bench for the final 19 minutes of Saturday's 1-0 semi-final win over West Brom at Wembley.
The England striker has not started a Premier League match since August and is without a league goal since his £6million summer move from Preston.
"My match fitness is coming back and you will see the real David Nugent now. I want to prove I am good enough for the Premier League and show how good I am.
"I do not feel I have given enough to this football club yet so this is my chance to show what I can do.
"I have got the buzz again and it was nice to be involved on Saturday. We are in the final and have a great chance of winning the trophy and I badly want to be a part of it."
Nugent turned down loan moves to Ipswich and Leicester in January to stay at Pompey and fight for his place.
"Some clubs came in for me on loan but I did not want to go. I did not think it would benefit me.
"When the manager called me to tell me which clubs had come in I said I would speak to my agent, but deep down I did not want to leave.
"I had just come from the Championship and did not want to fall back down there.
"I want to stay at Portsmouth and prove my worth. I want to give my all for the team and Harry because he paid so much money for me."
