After scoring against Reading reserves, Portsmouth striker David Nugent hopes he's showing the form needed to break into the FA Cup squad.
"I was due a goal, I've not played many games this season so it was nice to on this occasion," Nugent told The News. "My right foot is stronger. My left is just for standing on really but when I swing it sometimes it goes in and sometimes it goes into the crowd.
"It's massive for my confidence. I should have actually scored a few more. I missed a couple of chances, but you've got to be there to miss them. I thought I worked hard up there on my own again and I enjoyed it.
"It's now down to me to keep playing and getting match fitness to change the gaffer's mind in the forthcoming weeks for the FA Cup final."
