Portsmouth's Kranjcar likened to Prosinecki

Fulham coach Dave Beasant rates Portsmouth midfielder Niko Kranjcar alongside Croatian great Robert Prosinecki.

Former Pompey keeper Beasant told The News: "Robert was a law unto himself but had amazing ability. He was brilliant for the little time he had at Portsmouth.

"His skill and what he could do with the ball from free-kicks and set plays was unbelievable. He was not the fittest person in the world but when he got on the pitch, the things he used to do were incredible.

"Robert was the worst dresser in the world, he used to have his cigarette before the game and after the game and, if he had his way, during the game. But you always felt something was going to happen.

"I've heard him compared to Kranjcar and in some ways I can see that. Not as in work-rate or attitude, but they have both got that incredible ability to pass the ball and both can score goals."
