Portsmouth's James welcomes Premiership fixtures

David James is relishing Portsmouth's start to the new season, which includes three games in a month against champions Manchester United.

Pompey meet United in a pre-season game in Nigeria in late July, then in the Community Shield on 10 August, and in the Premier League a fortnight later.

They also travel to Chelsea on 16 August, the season's opening day.

"It should be good and we'll be playing with confidence after winning the FA Cup," James told BBC Radio Solent.

"The second fixture against Manchester United will be the third time in a month that we'll have played them."

Pompey, who are awaiting their sixth season in the Premier League, also meet Everton and Tottenham in the opening half-dozen league fixtures.
