Sylvain Distin has no regrets choosing Portsmouth over Liverpool when deciding to leave Manchester City in the summer.

The French defender told the Portsmouth News: "I don't know if Liverpool came in for me or not.

"But if they were really interested in me, they knew that I was on a free transfer for a long time and they would have come in for me before then. If a club comes in for you at the last minute, you can jump at the opportunity or you can ask 'do they really want me that much?'

"Maybe they tried everybody else and didn't get anybody.

"Even if it was true that they wanted me, I don't think I would have gone anyway."
