Portsmouth striker Jermain Defoe goes into this week's England internationals full of confidence.
He said: "When you are playing well at club level and you get selected for your country you seem to take that form into international football.
"Confidence is a massive thing. When I signed for Portsmouth, after a few games it was great. You feel sharper and stronger for playing.
"If you feel sharper it's normal to believe that if you get a chance you will take it.
"I've had a good pre-season and I've worked hard so I'm looking forward to these games."
