Portsmouth's Campbell ponders England future

Portsmouth defender Sol Campbell admits he'll wait until the new England manager is appointed before making a decision on his international future.

He said: "I played four internationals I wasn't expected to play and at least I stuck my neck out and wanted to go out there.

"All the players involved have to take it on the chin but I'm not sure people understand that I wanted to play for England but only came in at the back end of the campaign."

Asked whether he intended to carry on playing for his country, the 33-year-old centre-back thought long and hard before revealing: "I'm just waiting to see who the next manager is. There is no need for the FA to rush into a decision. They've got plenty of time to make sure they get the right man.

"I'll see who comes in. But I'm not going to go through that situation again, though."
