Portsmouth won't up bid for Liverpool's Crouch

Portsmouth won't up their £9 million bid for Liverpool striker Peter Crouch.

The offer, which is £7m downpayment plus add-ons, has been rejected by Liverpool, even though Crouch has only one year remaining on his contract.

"The offer is more than generous," a deal insider told the Daily Mail. "It is a sign of Portsmouth's ambition that they are prepared to smash their transfer record for the second summer in succession. They want Crouch to lead the attack in their UEFA Cup bid."

One consideration would be restructuring the offer by increasing their downpayment - but the total offer will remain the same.
