Portsmouth will let FA make decision on Campbell abuse

Portsmouth's Sol Campbell was the target of derogatory chants from Spurs supporters during Pompey's 2-0 win on Sunday at Fratton Park. Hampshire Police confirmed a complaint had been lodged with the FA regarding the conduct of a section of away fans.

Pompey's media and communications director Gary Double told The News: "We have not got any plans to make a complaint to the FA.

"We don't condone the abuse that Sol suffered at the weekend and it was above the norm that players would normally get.

"The same happened last year, but this year the Pompey fans shouted them down, which was good to see.

"Plus Sol answered them with a magnificent performance on the pitch."

And a Spurs spokesman said: "We do not tolerate racist, homophobic or obscene chanting at White Hart Lane and are now waiting for a full report from Portsmouth to hear how this matter was dealt with at Fratton Park."
