Former Portsmouth striker Steve Claridge says the club must secure veteran pair Sol Campbell and Hermann Hreidarsson to new deals.
"The important thing is the players they want are still under contract," Claridge told The News. "Then you've got others with so many question marks hanging over them and it's something that has to be resolved very quickly.
"Take Sol, based on the last three or four months of the season, I would keep him. He was very, very good and it's a no-brainer.
"Sol and Sylvain had a poor mid-season but both came back and played very well. Sol's legs were starting to be a problem - but he seemed to get a new lease of life and I would hand him another year.
"He is probably not going to earn the money he was on from his last contract so it might take a little bit of sorting out, but the club should do it. They need him.
"With Hermann it depends what you are looking at and what you are looking to achieve. But for me that's another no-brainer. He will give 100 per cent and has been a tremendous performer."
