The international eyes of the soccer world following the FIFA world cup will focus on San Diego, at Qualcomm Stadium on July 14 for the upcoming San Diego Clasico, in a friendly between the "Aguilas" Club America and "Pompey" Club Portsmouth F.C. from the English Premier League.

The San Diego Clasico match is set For Qualcomm Stadium on Wednesday, July 14 at 7:30 p.m.as some FIFA World Cup flavor comes to America's finest city.

Club America which has won 10 championships is among the richest clubs in the world. They feature two players on their roster superstar goalkeeper Memo Ochoa from the Mexican National team and Jean Beausejour from the Chile National team, both played for their respective team in the FIFA World Cup.

Portsmouth, who lost in the finals to powerhouse Chelsea in the 2009 FA Cup 1-0, will be the first ever English Premier team to play in San Diego. Portsmouth is led by six players who participated in the World Cup. These players include David James from England, Nadir Belhadj of Algeria, KevinPrince-Boateng of Ghana, Aaron Mokoena of South Africa and John Utaka and Nwankwo Kanu of Nigeria.

"On the heels of the FIFA World Cup finishing just three days prior to this event, the San Diego Clasico will be a showcase for local soccer fans and give them an opportunity to see many of the best players in the sport," said Anthony Fernandez from Pazzo Sports who is the event promoter.

"We hope to bring these types of soccer matches to the region on an ongoing basis. We're expecting a huge crowd at Qualcomm so we hope people will buy their tickets prior to day of game."
