New Burnley signing David Nugent is delighted with his loan move from Portsmouth.
"Once you're a goalscorer I think you will always score goals and I believe I will. Hopefully I will get chances and stick them away," Nugent told Burnley's official website.
"I haven't played much over the last two years. At Portsmouth I had half-an-hour here or 20 minutes there and I don't think that's long enough.
"I have missed playing and hopefully I will get that at Burnley and show people what I can do.
"It will be good to play a few games and hopefully prove a few people wrong. I can't wait to get started."
As an Everton fan, his likely Clarets debut against Liverpool at Anfield in 10 days could not be better timed.
"When I heard there was an interest I looked at the fixtures and saw after the international break it was Liverpool at Anfield. I can't wait to get down there," said Nugent.
"I scored against them for Portsmouth (a 3-2 defeat in February), and I would love to score against them again and keep Burnley flying."
Providing he rediscovers his form, Nugent is already looking at extending the deal, possibly even permanently.
"If I come through and do well I would love to extend it until the end of the season, and then there is an option to make a payment," said Nugent.
"It will be great if that happens, but I have to show the gaffer what I can do."
