Portsmouth to splash out on Reading's Shorey

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp is set to bag Reading fullback Nicky Shorey.

The Sun says the Royals rejected a £3m bid from Pompey last week but are willing to do a deal at £3.5m rising to £5m with add-ons.

Leyton Orient will bank £450,000 due to a sell-on clause.

Reading boss Steve Coppell left Shorey out of the 1-1 friendly with Aston Villa on Saturday.

Coppell said: "Nicky has made it clear he'd prefer to move and ply his trade elsewhere.

"I am 60 per cent certain Nicky will be gone by this time next week."
