Portsmouth snatch late win over Blackpool

Blackpool enjoyed most of the possession down on the South coast at Portsmouth but it was the home side who claimed the three points with a 94th minute winner. Pompey boss Steve Cotterill praised match-winner Erik Huseklepp: "Everybody will be delighted for him because it was a fantastic goal at such a crucial time.

"No one saves shots like that one. They could have had a row of goalkeeper on the line and it would have made no difference.

"It is difficult for foreign players to come in because expectations are always so big and we have thrown him in at the deep end quicker than we would have liked.

"Hopefully he will now enjoy his weekend and I think in time he will be a big asset to this football club.

"I saw him playing for Norway against the Republic of Ireland and I made a note to follow his career. Good wingers are hard to find.

"We would have liked to have let him settle in a little bit but we do not have the time to do that so he has deserved his goal and we can all celebrate."

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway was irate with referee Darren Deadman who booked eight players.

Holloway said: "I am not blaming the referee for our defeat. I just did not like his performance.

"Tom Ince got a yellow card for diving when he should have awarded us a penalty. I have never seen anything like that, it was a terrible, terrible decision.

"It was a shame to lose in such a way right at the death. We dominated the ball and possession in a way you do not expect of a team playing away from home.

"Last year when we were in the Premier League we let in a lot of late goals so maybe this is a hangover.

"But if anyone was going to win I thought it was going to be us.

"It's a bitter one to take. That's football. I don't mind losing so late and in such a way if the other team had deserved it but that was not the case here in my opinion."
