Portsmouth are close to a deal for Aston Villa fullback Nicky Shorey.

The England international is undergoing a medical on the south coast ahead of joining Pompey on a season-long loan, says Sky Sports.

Pompey are expected to be among the busiest clubs in the transfer market on the final day of the window and have also agreed a deal with Benfica to sign Hassan Yebda on loan.
