Portsmouth midfielder Sean Davis has outlined the importance of the club progressing in the FA Cup in a bid to instil confidence in the league.

Pompey currently sit 12th on the league table and are desperateto climb back up and Davis said it starts with improved performances in the Cup.

"We want a good run in the Cup as it breeds confidence," said Davis.

"It distracted us a little bit in the league last year and we did not win as many games as we could have.

"But we still ended up getting into Europe and that was a fantastic achievement for Portsmouth. We definitely want to win the Cup again."
