Portsmouth boss Paul Hart has recalled two of his goalkeepers from their loans over David James' calf strain.
The Daily Star says James will be missing from Pompey's relegation battle for three weeks.
Keeper James, 39, suffered a calf strain in the warm-up against Stoke on Sunday and last night had a scan on the injury.
He is expected to miss Saturday's home clash with Manchester United, the Carling Cup tie with Aston Villa and Premier League matches against Burnley and Sunderland.
Manager Paul Hart has recalled keeper Asmir Begovic from his loan spell at Ipswich and Jamie Ashdown has been pulled out of a similar move to Brighton.
