Portsmouth have slapped in a £9 million bid for Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe.
Defoe has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane throughout the transfer window after spending most of the season sitting on the bench. Harry Redknapp and Pompey chief executive Peter Storrie spent most of Wednesday trying to agree a fee with Spurs, says the Mirror.
Long term Portsmouth target Defoe, who remained on the bench for Tottenham's match against Everton.
