Arsenal hope to complete the sale of French midfielder Lassana Diarra, 22, to Portsmouth for £5.5million.

Boss Harry Redknapp beat Spurs to Diarra's signature and will make him one of the top earners at Fratton Park on £60,000 a week, says The Sun.

Diarra was close to signing for Newcastle before Sam Allardyce was sacked.
