Portsmouth No2 Adams keen to get one over Man Utd's Ferguson

Portsmouth assistant boss Tony Adams admits he loves getting one over Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United.

Former Arsenal captain Adams said: "I've got the utmost respect for Alex. But I also love beating him. I don't know why but I like beating Alex more than I enjoy beating Arsene Wenger.

"Something inside me wants to beat United.

"Don't mention last season or he'll get the hump with me. Oh, did we stop them winning the Treble?

"I never expect Alex to be happy when he loses but I saw him after we'd won at Old Trafford in the FA Cup and first he said 'Well done' and then he swore at me.

"He told me 'You'd better ******* go on and win it now. If you beat United you have to.'"

Adams added: "With the squad we have, a realistic target would be another top-10 finish. Top four? We're up against it."
