Portsmouth goalkeeper David James says Joe Hart must consider his future at Manchester City if he has England ambitions.

"Joe has to be in the reckoning for the squad against Slovakia, but he needs to get into a first-team somewhere and show what quality he has got, because he has it in abundance," he told Setanta Sports News.

"The problem for English goalkeepers is that first-team opportunities in The Premier League are very, very limited.

"We have the best league in the world but, unfortunately, that means we have some of the best goalkeepers in the world.

"It's a tough league to get into."
