Portsmouth goalkeeper David James was happy to silence his England critics after his spotkick save in Saturday's victory over Wigan Athletic.
"When you are in the national team your head is well and truly above the parapet.
"But I never think I shouldn't be playing for England because of the stick.
"When Wigan were awarded the penalty I was thinking 'France on Wednesday, here we go again'. But this time it ended well and it went where I thought it was going.
"If I had to choose which penalty to save, I would have kept this one. But that sounds a bit like Deal or No Deal!"
Pompey boss Harry Redknapp has nothing but admiration for his eccentric keeper and said: "He played for England on Wednesday night and was back here on Thursday to train for 2½ hours. That's how he is, a perfectionist."
