Portsmouth and Newcastle United are chasing Le Mans goalkeeper Yoann Pele.

Toon, having lost Shay Given, want the 26-year-old as their No 1, while Portsmouth need a long-term successor to David James, 38.

In the French squad earlier this season, Pele is out of contract this summer. Agent Duro Ivanisevic said: "Pele has clearly decided he wants to move to England."
