Portsmouth move for Southampton's Surman

Southampton midfielder Andrew Surman is wanted by Portsmouth.

The News of the World says Fratton Park boss Harry Redknapp, a former Saints chief, had the classy midfielder watched at QPR last week.

Surman has been an ever-present this season and Pompey coach Tony Adams was at Loftus Road last week to run the rule over him as Saints won 3-0.

But Saints boss George Burley said: "Everyone here thinks the world of him."
