Portsmouth are in the race for Charlton Athletic defender Madjid Bougherra. But they face competition from Wigan Athletic, Rangers, Middlesbrough and Newcastle United.
Algeria international Madjid Bougherra was reportedly the subject of a failed bid from Spanish outfit Real Betis last month, but now appears to have options in the Premier League or SPL as Charlton prepare for another season in the Championship.
Addicks' boss Alan Pardew might have to sell players in order to buy to strengthen his squad, which means a bid of around £2.5million for Bougherra might prove tempting.
