Portsmouth keeper James: PFA nomination reward for team

Portsmouth goalkeeper David James says his PFA Player of the Year nomination is reward for the entire team this season.

He said: "I've never been that interested in the PFA awards probably because no one's voted for me. But now I'm in the top six, it's probably the best award in the world. To be alongside Ronaldo is a tremendous honour.

"But this is a reward for the whole team. The clean sheets aren't just down to me. They are a reflection of everything Harry Redknapp has done here. No one is surprised when we keep a clean sheet any more.

"Maybe Newcastle thought that with us being in the Cup final, they could come here and win. But no one is taking their eye off the ball."
