Portsmouth keeper James on outer in Capello plans

Portsmouth goalkeeper David James is set to sit out England's opening World Cup game against the USA.

The Daily Mail says James is looking a doubt to start England's first World Cup match against the United States on Saturday.

James won his 50th cap when he played the first half against Japan in Austria last Sunday but before that had not started an international for 13 months.

Now Robert Green and Joe Hart, who replaced James against Japan, appear to have edged ahead in the battle to start in Rustenburg.

James, who wants to become the oldest World Cup winner since Italian Dino Zoff lifted the trophy at the age of 40, appears to have slipped out of favour.
