Portsmouth goalkeeper David James has revealed he was ready to approach Plymouth Argyle about getting a game when he left Manchester City in 2006.
"It wasn't a plan which Plymouth were ever aware of. But they are my local team and it was just an idea in my head at the time.
"Then Harry Redknapp made me an offer to come to Portsmouth and all my plans changed.
"Everything this team has achieved is testament to Harry's ability to bring in the right players and turn a team that battled relegation into one that's disappointed not to get into Europe.
"He is an integral part of the club. He creates the environment for us all to play to our capabilities.
"Harry has created something fantastic here. What he has set up means there is definite room for decent growth in the future."
