Portsmouth keeper James hands Capello England boost
Portsmouth goalkeeper David James expects to be available for England’s friendly against Holland next month.
The Daily Star says James had surgery on his shoulder to repair some damage and clean up the joint at the end of last season, just as soon as Portsmouth were safe from the drop.
But it meant he missed the World Cup qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Andorra.
James wants to copy legendary Italy keeper Dino Zoff and win the World Cup at almost 40.
He turns 39 on August 1 but, because he has never let his Italian manager down, he is still on course to remain England’s No.1 throughout the coming season.
James is already back at work and on the training field twice a day to make certain he is fit and ready in time for the August 12 game against Holland in Amsterdam.
