Portsmouth goalkeeper David James says sacked manager Tony Adams was too calm to succeed at Fratton Park.
He said: "We have all been guilty of mistakes and everybody has to take some blame.
"But the difference is last season when we lost at Bolton, Harry Redknapp came in and tore a strip off us and you need that.
"Tony kicked the dug-out after the third goal against Liverpool and that was a start. But look at Fabio Capello - if he does not like something he tells you.
"You don't have to rant and rave but you need to get your view across."
